Born in Barbados and had a childhood filled to reggae. After she learned singing, she was professional. After being disturbed by the turbulent nature of her household life, as well as her frequent battles with her father she became immersed in music. In the end, she discovered she was meant to become an accomplished professional. When she was a teenager she joined a rock group. Evan Rodgers auditioned her and was awestruck.
